Penfolds Max's Shiraz Cabernet 2015
Penfolds Max's Shiraz Cabernet 2015
James Suckling 92 points - Perfumed and delicious with blackberry, blueberry and orange peel character. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. I like the acid energy to this that gives the wine clarity and tension. Drink now..November/2017
Wine Spectator 90 points - Charming, bright and juicy up front, with rosemary, tobacco and cedar details to the cherry-flavored core. The tannins are firm and appealingly chewy on the finish. Drink now through 2027. 15,000 cases imported. -MW.October/2017
Wine & Spirits 90 points - Part of a new range of wines from Penfolds, this blend is 71 percent shiraz, 29 percent cabernet sauvignon. Chief Winemaker Max Schubert was keen on allowing a little volatile acidity to perk up the complexity of his red wines, apparent here in the scent of flamed orange rind adding spice to the fresh red fruit. The wine is softly cushioned by oak, and as that oak retreats with air, it leaves a chocolate richness to underline the dark, plummy fruit. Don’t open this looking for a bruiser. But if you want a smartly tailored blend that offers plenty of satisfaction, check it out..October/2017
