Flavors of dried cherry and plum are laced with notes of caramel and sweet spice in this rich, concentrated wine. It gains layers of dark chocolate and espresso with air, the flavors encased by raspy tannins that call for a match with soft cheeses.  (2/2021)

Monte Tondo is a family-run estate in Soave that is obsessively focused on artisanal quality. The Amarone Riserva is made from 70% Corvina and 30% Rondinella from the estate's best vines. It's made in the very traditional Amarone fashion of air-drying the grapes on wicker mats after harvest. The resulting wine is intense in every sense of the word. The deepest ruby color possible, it offers up a nose of ultra-ripe plum and black cherry with secondary notes of tobacco, new leather, and black tea. The palate is reflective of the nose with a rich, unctuous body and structure. It's classic Amarone that spends a full 60 months in large Slavonian oak before release.

Food coupling: Excellent with all kinds of entrecote, grilled and on-the-spit meat dishes.
