The River Spey, in the heart of Scotland, is the country’s second longest and fastest-flowing river, renowned for its fine trout and salmon fishing. Home to half the Scotch malt whisky distilleries in Scotland, the banks of this river boast more distilleries than anywhere else in the world. Some distilleries are only a stones throw apart, using the same barley, water and peat and yet, by some strange magic, every Speyside whisky has its own special characteristics and flavour. The district is a blunt wedge, bisected by the fast flowing River Spey. The malts are sweet and fruity; delicate yet peaty on the palate with just with a trace of smoke.
