Manguin Poires Williams La Poire Prisonniere

Manguin is one of our favorite "prisoned pear" eau de vie pear brandies that we've tasted through the years.  Made with Bon Chretien Williams pears from Provencal orchards on Barthelasse Island.  This ingenious means of production begins with the nascent fruits being inserted into the bottles in the spring, hanging attached upside down to resist wind and rain. 

Finally the pears are harvested in August after reaching peak maturity, and the bottle is filled with their high quality pear eau-de-vie.
