Chateau Leoville Poyferre was designated the coveted Second Growth wine Classification in 1855, a distinction that is still recognized today. The winery is located on the left bank of Bordeaux in the region of St. Julien, situated just north of the Marguax region. Leoville Poyferre was originally one large estate but has since been broken down to three Chateaus; their flagship Leoville Poyferre, Leoville Las Cases, and Leoville Barton.
The Leoville Poyferre 2000 is a standout from that vintage in Bordeaux, a region known for producing wines with the ability to age. It is full bodied with complex layers on the palate, red and black fruit including dried raspberries, cherries, plum and currants with hints of green notes, cedar, leather, baking spice and forest floor. The silky texture leads to a long lingering finish allowing you to savor this gem between sips.
