Catena Appellation San Carlos Cabernet Franc 2019
Catena Appellation San Carlos Cabernet Franc 2019
Vinous 92 points - Bright medium ruby-red. Classic aromatic Cabernet Franc nose offers blackberry, spices, and violet, plus a faint hint of creosote. Concentrated, floral and energetic, delivering a wonderfully suave, fine-grained texture and a sexy oak element. The finish features building tannins and rising spicy length. A distinctly serious Cabernet Franc for aging.
Wine Advocate 90 points - This is from a warmer and slightly riper year, and the wine shows softer and riper. It matured in 100% French oak barrels
Decanter 90 points - WORLD WINE AWARDS 2018 (BRONZE): Very pure, minty, leafy aromas with a roasted nutty palate balanced by sweet fruit characters.
I devoted nearly a full day to tasting at the Catena Zapata winery in Agrelo as Argentina’s #1 producer offers excellent to otherworldly wines at a range of price points and that’s not even including the superb wines made by Nicolas Catena’s daughter Laura and son Ernesto, and the Bodega Aleanna label of his own multi-talented winemaker Alejandro Vigil. - From Argentina’s Wines Enter the World Stage (Jul 2018) by Stephen Tanzer
