Ancnoc Scotch Single Malt Rascan Limited Edition

The anCnoc Scotch whisky brand, housed in Scotland’s Knockdhu distillery, continues to show that, despite being more focused on lighter whiskies these days,they want to also still have a foot in the more peaty world . Their latest release, the dark and smoky Rascan, aims to be another fine example of this practice.

The anCnoc Rascan, so named after a traditional peat cutting tool, has a phenol content of 11.1 parts per million (ppm), making it one of the lighter members of its range. It was matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels for nearly a decade, and bottled at 46% ABV.

To taste, sweet and spicy notes of vanilla and honey are carried forward at the first sip. Hints of toffee then push through, outlined by subtle spices and a smooth leathery undertone. The finish is floral yet pleasantly smoky.
